Operation & Maintenance

Alpha Ventus Wartungsarbeiten

A maintenance crew will be working on the wind farm almost every day of the year during the farm's 20-year operational phase. Their work will be restricted during the winter months as adverse weather conditions make working offshore more difficult. Situated 90 kilometres from the coast, the farm's location requires a sophisticated maintenance approach as it would be too costly to transfer maintenance staff from the coast on a daily basis. That is why the construction of an offshore accommodation platform is planned for the DanTysk project. The staff working here will be stationed in shifts and taken to the respective turbines every day by a crew boat. Our maintenance technicians are very highly trained and are given regular health checks. They will be working with strict safety regulations in shifts of several weeks.

The DanTysk wind farm will actually be operated from a control centre in Denmark which will be run by Vattenfall. Here staff will monitor the wind farm, ensuring smooth operation, e.g. that no external vessels enter the 500-metre buffer zone surrounding the farm.
